Thanks – Giving Back!
As we approach this time of thanksgiving and gratitude, many of us look for opportunities to give back to others on the Vineyard. Volunteering on Martha’s Vineyard is an important practice to support our small but mighty Island community.
Our Social Action committee always has opportunities to share with us. See our recommendations below, courtesy of the Social Action Committee Chair, Stacy Goldfarb.
Tuesdays, November 4th and 11th
Harbor Homes Winter Shelter meals
Harbor Homes of Martha’s Vineyard
We will be providing food to Harbor Homes, a nonprofit on the Island that offers resources to avoid homelessness on the Vineyard. During the Winter, they provide a place to stay overnight for those in need, but they need food donations for those sheltering. If you would like to contribute by preparing a main dish, side dish, bread or dessert, reach out to Stacy.

Super Shift! Nov 3rd Chutzpah Phone Bank – Mobilize Voters with live music from Marni Loffman
Online with JALSA
Join Dayenu’s Chutzpah 2025 campaign to organize for a just and livable future. Co-sponsored by Jewish Earth Alliance, JALSA, and the RAC (Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism. We are partnering with the Environmental Voter Project to get out the vote in Virginia this fall. This is the last phone bank before the election, and it’s a super long shift! There will be live music from Marni Loffman. Automatic live captioning will be provided in Zoom.
Our Jewish values remind us to stay committed to justice and passion for everyone all year long. However, the Thanksgiving season is a beautiful reminder to devote our time and attention to others as well as to our loved ones. We hope you will join us in one of the opportunities above, or find your own ways to perform mitzvot.
