About Our Community

We are the Jewish home to year-round Islanders, seasonal residents, and visitors since 1940.

We come together as people of different religious backgrounds and experiences, including Jews from traditional, liberal and secular homes as well as people of all religions.  We value our diversity, and our community includes people of different ages, beliefs, ethnic or racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities. What unites us is our desire to learn from our tradition, and from each other.

We seek to deepen our connection to Judaism through celebration, music, study, pursuit of justice, meditation and prayer. Wherever you are on your Jewish journey, the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center welcomes you to pray, share, and build with us.

The Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center was established in 1940 by fifty Islanders seeking Jewish community.

Led by Rabbi Caryn Broitman, the MVHC team is here to support you.

Our doors are open to all who seek to worship, learn, and serve the community.

We value a lifetime of learning and growth in our Jewish traditions and faith.
