Hebrew School

Joy! Simcha!

The MVHC Hebrew School is lively, curious, engaging, and inspiring! The Talmud tells us that “the Holy Spirit rests only on one who has a joyous heart.” The experience of learning our tradition should be a joyous one. We provide a student-centered environment that makes our young learners feel welcome, safe, respected, and supported.

Our progressive curriculum is based on the Jewish story and encourages our students to see themselves in it. Our goal is to model and inspire a sense of pride, enthusiasm, and curiosity about Jewish life. We use a variety of resources to introduce Torah, Holidays & Rituals, Jewish Values, and Hebrew. Those include workbooks, art projects, cooking, and hands-on activities.

Students are actively engaged in practicing Jewish Values through projects involving Tikkun Olam (Repairing of the World), Tzedakah (Charity), and Hakarat Ha’Tov (Recognizing the Good). Students participate in holidays and services, whether candle lighting or performing in a play or spiel!

All students are welcome–including those from inter-faith and multi-faith families. We encourage new and interested families to come for a Shabbat service or participate in a holiday celebration. We have a lot to offer and would love to share it!
