Rebuild Sanctuary – A Tisha B’Av Action on Immigration

Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center is proud to co-sponsor this important event. We hope you will join us!

DHS ICE Boston Field Office, Burlington, MA

Sunday August 3, 4:30 – 6:00 pm

As we mourn the destruction of the Temples in Jerusalem, times of devastating loss and dislocation for the Jewish people, we call on our leaders to actively resist the federal assault on the dignity, safety and wellbeing of immigrants in our community. We reject the weaponization of Jewish fear into a tool for dismantling civil liberties and instead uphold the tenets of our faith that compel us to protect and stand with marginalized communities. To rebuild sanctuary in the Commonwealth, we ask that our Massachusetts elected officials – including Governor Healey and members of the legislature – do everything in their power to protect immigrants and build a Commonwealth that upholds the dignity and safety of all people.

Registration form

Organized by T’ruah, JALSA, and RAC-MA

Orientation toward Co-Sponsorship:

Our goal for this Tisha B’Av action is to demonstrate wide-ranging opposition across the Jewish community to the Trump administration’s attacks on immigrant communities; to fight against the erosion of civil liberties; and to demonstrate solidarity with marginalized communities in Massachusetts. We welcome Jewish organizations and congregations to partner with us who share these goals and are comfortable staying focused on our framing and demands

Co-sponsors are asked to share this event with their communities. If you are a larger organization/congregation with the capacity, donations toward action expenses (printing, sound system, etc) are appreciated.
