Special Film Screening: Labors of Love

We are thrilled to co-sponsor a special film screening of Labors of Love, a powerful documentary about the life of Henrietta Szold, at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society on Sunday, August 24th at 7:30pm.

This documentary shares the story of the influential yet often overlooked Henrietta Szold. Henrietta founded Hadassah in 1912, a Jewish women’s service organization that allowed Jewish women to support causes beyond their own. Henrietta combined both logistical brilliance and hands-on dedication, playing a vital role in shaping Jewish-Arab coexistence. Henrietta shaped Palestine’s healthcare system, offering safety and healing to thousands of young Holocaust survivors through her leadership of Youth Aliyah. Peace between Jewish people and Arabs was never widely embraced, yet Henrietta never gave up. Henrietta’s story went widely untold until now.

Following the film, there will be a Q&A with director Abby Ginzberg. This discussion will include what inspired the making of the film, discoveries during production, what surprised you about Henrietta’s legacy, and more.
