Standing Against Antisemitic Terror in Boulder

Letter from the Rabbi

Dear friends,

We condemn in the strongest possible terms the antisemitic act of terrorism against participants at a vigil in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday.  Participants in this peaceful vigil have met weekly as part of a broader movement to call for the freeing of the hostages who were abducted by Hamas on October 7th and continue to be held in Gaza.  We express our solidarity with their efforts to work tirelessly for the release of the hostages.  We continue to pray for the release of the hostages to their homes and families.  And we pray for the healing of the eight victims of this attack who were hospitalized, as well as all the participants who were present and endured the violence of this despicable act.

As extremist acts of violence in the United States continue to grow, all people of good conscience must be united in our rejection of this act of antisemitic terror and all acts of political violence and hate that target people for their religion, nationality, or what they believe.  May our voices rise together to call on leaders of all sides and movements to prioritize an end to violence and hate.  For the sake of our future, may we remember the words of Rev. Martin Luther King: “Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

L'shalom,

Rabbi Caryn Broitman
